Why dive with Aquanauts?

What a good question, with so many islands and dive centers to choose from. Grenada, one of the last secret hideaways in the Caribbean, is certainly a place worth visiting, but what keeps Aquanauts apart from others? It really depends what is important for you. We feel, that we have a top of the line operation, driven by one thing- a friendly positive attitude!

Everyone that works at Aquanauts loves what they do and it shows. We all like to meet new friends and provide you with an experience to remember and come back. But there is more to the package. Gerlinde and Peter, founder and owner of Aquanauts are always there to support the team in their daily challenge for customer satisfaction. They keep up the ’pressure’ to make sure that the highest standards are met. The team consists of the most dedicated Instructors and Dive masters you can find on the island. All together they have many more dives in our waters under the belt than anybody else. With the support of our experienced Captains and friendly shop attendants they will make sure that you have a great time.

At Aquanauts you’ll find world class dive boats, that make the difference between transportation and a dive vacation! Visit our dive boat page and see for yourself. With our fuel efficient diesel inboards we don’t mind going the ’extra mile’ to more exiting dive sites, which the ’out boarders’ avoid to safe fuel. We provide diving in small groups from large comfortable boats. What is a crowd? - 12 divers on a 30’x 8’boat diving in 1 group or 16 divers on a 40’ x 14’ dive boat diving in 3 different groups? If you are experienced advanced divers and have your own computers we will respect your experience and let you dive your own profile. Beginners and Intermediate dive with our experienced dive masters that will make sure they are safe and comfortable. We constantly reinvest profits, to make sure that the best equipment is available. Our rental features Scubapro, we have three large Bauer compressors with automatic air quality control, Nitrox, Scooter, Digital cameras and much more’.

Our two convenient locations are in the vicinity of 90 % of the hotels in Grenada and we provide complimentary transfers if needed. Very important is our marina in True Blue, on the south coast, where you are always able to enter the boat from a safe dock. There are no docks on Grand Anse Beach and sometimes, when weather comes from the west it is not safe or impossible to load a boat on the beach.

For us safety comes first. All our staff is trained in First Aid/ Oxygen provider. Our guide carries a surface float on all dives, all divers are required a ’safety sausage’, if you don’t have, we’ll lend you one.

We are also environmental conscious, depose our waste safely and enforce a strict take only pictures ’ leave only bubbles policy. Aquanauts installed all moorings in the Grenada Marine park and lots more on the other reefs to avoid anchoring.

If still not convinced, please browse through our web site, see what other people say about Aquanauts. Oh, I almost forgot, our customers never carry tanks’.. you’re on holiday! Happy bubbles, Gerlinde & Peter

We thrive to achieve 100% customer satisfaction. We know good customer care is a sum of many little things we pay close attention to. We only enhance as a team and we are only as good asour weakest team member.

Aquanauts Grenada was founded by Gerlinde & Peter Seupel in 1997 under the name of 1st Spice Divers Grenada. We started very small with one 10m/30 foot boat ’Spice Lady’ at Secret Harbor Hotel in Grenada, at that time owned by The Moorings. The refitted Sport-fisherman ’Spice Lady’ was our pride and joy, nicknamed by the competition the ’coffee boat’, because we put our customers first from start on, served refreshments on the boat and offered amenities like fresh water shower, toilet, dive platform and other amenities. We continue that service today for our guests.

In 2000 we changed our name to Aquanauts Grenada, LTD to have an international better recognized name. We started to brand this new name at dive shows and in advertisements. In 2001 we began our expansion by moving our business to Rendezvous Beach & Dive Resort ’ the first diver dedicated resort on the Isle of Spice. Later that year the owners of Blue Horizon Cottage Hotel & Spice Island Beach Resort offered us the opportunity to operate their dive and water sports center on Grand Anse Beach. Of course more business meant we needed a larger boat, which we luckily found in ’Calypso’. The first winter season on Grand Anse Beach was very busy, thus we decided we need one more boat.

In January of 2003 we got our Island Hopper, ’SOCA’. We also invested in a new system and were the first to offer recreational NITROX on the island.

In spring of 2003 we started our relationship with True Blue Bay Resort, where we were welcomed warmly from the first day. The small start turned out to become a big center rather quickly. In late 2003 the Rendezvous Beach Resort was sold to a private Club. We then moved our main base to True Blue Bay Resort. This makes True Blue Bay Resort now the only diver dedicated resort in Grenada.

With growing demand, we added the US-built Seahawk boat ’Salsa’ to our fleet in spring of 2004. SCUBA dive groups and SCUBA dive packages with True Blue Bay Resort and Blue Horizons Cottage Hotel had become our business. Having a calendar full with bookings for the fall of 2004 and a good outlook for the upcoming season, we went ahead and refurbished our store at Grand Anse, increasing rental and retail space.

Today Aquanauts is not only the longest continuously in business dive center in Grenada under the same ownership but also the SCUBA dive operation leader on the island of Grenada. With our fleet of three custom dive boats, three large compressors, a NITROX system, top of the line SCUBAPRO rental equipment and two modern retail shops we are one of the most sophisticated dive centers in the Caribbean diving region. We take pride in serving costumers at the highest level.

In the effort to protect the environment; Aquanauts Grenada's’ crew installed and maintains moorings on Grenada’s dive sites, supports the Ocean Spirit Turtle Project and works on wreck and shark awareness programs. Regularly beach and underwater clean ups are organized under the patronage of Aquanauts with the participation of the local community and special awareness programs offered to school children.

We are looking into a bright future and are happy to welcome you to show you the beauty of our world under water!
